Facts about AXA

AXA is one of the world’s largest financial services providers

AXA was established in France in 1985, and today has offices in 56 countries. AXA Group supports and advises 80 million clients - individuals as well as businesses responding to their investment, financial protection, and savings needs.

AXA is very much a New Zealand company

The foundations of AXA New Zealand stretch back 120 years, initially starting as National Mutual. Four generations of New Zealanders have trusted us to look after their financial well-being, whether that means investment, financial protection or superannuation. AXA is currently New Zealand’s third largest life insurer.

Our approach is based on being steadfast by ‘sticking to our knitting’

AXA’s success and longevity is the result of focussing all our resources on three areas – investment, financial protection and retirement. By ‘sticking to our knitting’ we’ve been there for you in good times and bad, and we continue to take that long-term view.   AXA is New Zealand’s largest retail investment manager*, and second largest life insurer** - the independent rating agency Standard and Poor’s has rated our financial strength as A+ indicating that our insurance claims paying ability is strong.  AXA was also chosen by the government as an official KiwiSaver provider.

Standard and Poor's Rating 2009

On 9 November 2009, independent approved rating agency Standard and Poor's Australia Pty Ltd rated our financial strength as A+, indicating that our financial security and claims paying ability is strong. (A copy of the rating scale of which this rating forms part of is available for inspection at any AXA New Zealand office).

The Standard & Poor’s A+ financial strength rating indicates that AXA has 'strong' financial security characteristics with respect to its ability to meet its obligations under its insurance policies and contracts.

AXA New Zealand People

AXA New Zealand has over 300 people working for you, and ongoing training is a vital part of our business. Our executive leadership team is made up of some of the most experienced experts in our industry.

As well as helping people achieve their goals in life, we think it’s important to help people in other ways – by making real, positive differences to the communities that we all live in.

AXA supports the community with our Hearts in Action programme. We make donations and work with community organisations such as Canteen, He Huarahi Tamariki School, Mary Potter Hospice, Ronald McDonald House, Wellington City Mission and the Royal NZ Foundation for the Blind.   Our people give their time and skills to help out – that can include serving Christmas dinner at the City Mission or giving advice on how community organisations can best manage their funds.

In addition to funding selected projects and initiatives with our charity partners, we have established a Grant Programme to respond to applications for funds from not for profit organisations. This programme has been established to specifically support worthy initiatives and provide donations for causes/charities that are in line with our overall strategy.
